On 20 November 2024, the Hydrogen Valley of the Year 2024 award was handed over by Joanna Drake, Deputy Director General of DG RTD, European Commission, to our project coordinator, Mr. Konstantinos I. Chatzifotis, EU Affairs Manager at Motor Oil Group, at the prestigious EU Hydrogen Week 2024.
This award is a testament to our vision of positioning Greece as a regional hydrogen hub, driving innovation in renewable hydrogen and setting the stage for a larger hydrogen economy in Europe.
Special thanks to the Clean Hydrogen Partnership for their invaluable support and to our dedicated consortium partners for their tireless work and shared vision. Together we’re building a sustainable future for Greece, the Balkans and the EU!
Key achievements so far:
🔹 Deployment of a “virtual pipeline” with hydrogen gas tube trailers for efficient transport and storage to end-users.
🔹 Demonstration of a hydrogen-powered bus and its refuelling by Coral Gas with a tube trailer as part of the 3rd JIVE Roadshow in 4 cities in Greece and three other Balkan countries.
🔹 Knowledge exchange with Austria’s WIVA P&G HyWest hydrogen Valley in Innsbruck.
What’s next for TRIĒRĒS?
🔹 The operation of the first commercial, publicly accessible hydrogen refueling station in Greece (Agioi Theodoroi, Corinthia) within the first half of 2025.
🔹 The acquisition of a hydrogen-powered vehicle by the Municipality of Loutraki – Perachora – Agioi Theodoroi (end of 2024 – beginning of 2025).
🔹 The maturing of tendering procedures for the supply of urban buses and light vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells to regional transport networks.
