The JIVE 3rd Roadshow in Greece was successfully completed from the 17th May to 6th June 2024, with the final two stops of the Fuel Cell Bus being quite impressive. The bus was showcased to key players in the transportation and energy markets and undertook demonstration routes in various cities, highlighting the dynamic potential of hydrogen as a catalyst for the energy transformation of urban transportation.
On the 30th May, a national workshop was held at the O.SY. modern Bus Depot in Renti, Athens. It was co-organized by CluBE and Road Transport S.A (O.SY. S.A.), with the support of Coral Gas, Hellenic Hydrogen, and Motor Oil as the coordinator of the European project TRIERES, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The event showcased the latest developments in sustainable mobility, clean energy, and green hydrogen, featuring discussion panels and speakers from the above-mentioned organizers and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, Growthfund, Hydrogen Europe, Clean Hydrogen Partnership, JIVE/ERM, AVIN OIL, Latvian Hydrogen Association, Heavenn, CaetanoBus, ZeroBus Ltd and Toyota Hellas S.A..
Konstantinos I. Chatzifotis, EU Affairs Manager of the Motor Oil Group and project coordinator of TRIERES, discussed the ambitious plans of Motor Oil to create the hydrogen production, transportation, and distribution infrastructure. He noted that the collaboration with Road Transport S.A is accelerating the energy modernization of urban mobility through the use of technologically advanced fuels in public transportation.
On the 5th June 2024, Patras celebrated the World Environment Day by organizing the “ECOFORUM2024: Energy, Green Innovation & Sustainable Development: Creating a better future”.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou, opened the event, which featured a series of sessions with discussions and exchanges on sustainable development, urban mobility, energy, green innovation, recycling, circular economy, environmental protection and climate change from various stakeholders, including local and regional government representatives, industry leaders, academics, and technical experts.
A panel discussion on “Sustainable Urban Mobility & Energy” was dedicated to disseminating the JIVE 3rd H2 Bus Roadshow and discussing the potential benefits of renewable hydrogen as a clean energy carrier for the urban mobility sector. Representatives across the hydrogen value chain provided their insights into the present status, challenges and future opportunities of hydrogen in the sector.
